There are nights in Belgrade, and then there are nights that people talk about for the rest of the season. September 6 at Boho Bar is shaping up to be the second kind.

Two of Serbia's biggest electronic music exports — Space Motion and Divolly & Markward — are sharing one booth, on a terrace built into the walls of a 15th-century fortress, with the Sava and Danube opening up below you. If you are in Belgrade that weekend and you only go out once, this is the one.

Space Motion: the sound that travels further than the artist

If you have opened Beatport's melodic techno chart in the last five years, you have seen his name. Space Motion is a DJ and producer from Novi Sad who founded his own label, Space Motion Records, in 2018 and that label has since become one of the reference points for melodic techno, melodic house, and Afro house worldwide.

His sound is the emotional end of techno: warm basslines, long builds, arpeggios that unfold slowly, and breakdowns that land somewhere between a club and a film score. He has played across Europe and Asia — Paris, Sofia, Hong Kong, Guangzhou — and appeared at festivals including Sziget and EXIT. His records have picked up support from names across the spectrum, from Pete Tong and Solomun to CamelPhat and Nora En Pure.

What that means on a dancefloor: he does not open at full throttle. He builds. Give him ninety minutes and he takes a room somewhere.

Divolly & Markward: Belgrade's Afro house engine

Where Space Motion goes deep, Divolly & Markward go tribal. The Belgrade-based duo have become one of the country's most successful electronic acts — DJs and producers with more than 50 million Spotify streams, residents at EXIT Festival, with airplay on BBC Radio, SiriusXM, SLAM, Radio FG and Café Mambo Ibiza, and support from Hugel, Diplo, Claptone, Chris Lake, Tiësto, David Guetta and Fatboy Slim.

Following the success of their Afro house track "All Night" with Hugel, they have firmly established a signature fusion of Afro and Latin tribal sounds, and have played the Tomorrowland Mainstage, Creamfields, and clubs across Europe. Their sets are percussion-forward and relentlessly physical — the kind of thing that makes a terrace feel like an open-air festival stage.

Put the two acts on the same night and you get a real arc: melodic, cinematic, hypnotic early on, then tribal and euphoric as the night goes.

Why Boho Bar is the right room for this

Boho Bar is not a splav, and it is not trying to be. It sits inside the historic Kalemegdan Fortress in the heart of Belgrade, with views over the Danube and the ancient fortress walls, and it built its identity around Afro house, tribal and organic electronic music curated by local and international DJs.

The design is the other half of the appeal. Because it is a Sunday, the night runs earlier than a Friday at a river club. Come for sunset rather than at 1am — the room fills up while it is still light, and the first hours are genuinely part of the experience, not a warm-up you can skip.

Dress code: Boho leans relaxed and bohemian, but the door has standards. Skip beach shorts and flip-flops. Smart casual is the safe read.

Getting there: Kalemegdan is walkable from anywhere in Stari Grad — roughly 10 minutes from Knez Mihailova, 15 from Republic Square. Taxis drop you at the fortress entrance; parking nearby is paid and limited.

Book before you go

Boho fills up for headline nights, and September evenings on the terrace are some of the most requested of the entire season. Walk-ins are possible, but a table on the terrace is not something you want to gamble on at 22:00 on a night like this.
